To my wonderful brother, all I can say I will miss you dearly.  I will always remember all the great times we had together at Christmas and family gatherings. Your sense of humor made us all laugh and enjoy those wonderful times. Some of my best times with you was our weekly trips to Wisconsin to visit our Mother at the nursing home, those were the times we were able to talk about everything and anything. I will miss your phone calls for the past nine years. How you made sure I was taking the right vitamins and your concern about my health.   I love you and thank you for always being there for us.

To my wonderful husband of 47 years, even after your passing, you are making me laugh.  I replayed voice mail messages on our home phone and saw that you saved over 20 messages from me which all start out as basically the same. Here is one more from me okay.  "Hi Wally, this is your lovely wife Carol (ha, ha), I just called to let you know that 100 times 47 years would not be nearly enough time on earth with you." Looking forward to eternity sweetheart.  Until we meet again my love.

Uncle Wally you have one of the kindest, gentlest hearts I've ever known. I remember one year everyone was away and you and Auntie Carol drove all the way up to Wisconsin so I wouldn't have to celebrate my birthday by myself.  You are also one of the funniest people I have ever known. You always made me laugh. I remember you teasing Mom about how fat the raccoons were around her house. "Your raccoons are so big their bellies are dragging on the ground. You can't even see their legs anymore. They have to drag themselves up to the house using their feet." I knew Wally when the their family lived on Charleston Street. Wally was always happy and was always friendly to everyone. Praying for Wally his wife and family. So sorry to hear of Wally's passing. Rest In Peace.

Uncle Wally, when I think back on the memories from my childhood and growing up, the words that consistently pop into my mind are laughter, light, and gentleness.  I smile right now as I compose this tribute thinking about Christmas with Jingle Cats and your incredibly accurate rendition.  No holiday was ever complete without your humor and sheer wit. From that funny forehead thing you were able to do, to making sure a room was never too serious for too long, I will always be grateful for the light you brought with you.   As for your gentleness, there was just always a softness-a quiet wisdom that surrounded you.  I’ll always remember your intense love and compassion for your cats and how much they meant to you; I imagine you have been reunited with them along with dear Auntie Lydia and all who have passed on before. I am sure you are making them laugh right now, sharing your light with everyone just as you did here.    Thank you, Uncle Wally for all the love and laughter and memories that flood my mind as we celebrate your life, and for all that I’ll carry with me forever.  Until we meet again, Nicole.

Yes!! Wally was magic! He never disappointed. My beautiful bright light will be missed. My forever curious brother, now you can explore the universe. What a wonderful adventure.  I love you, Erika or as you liked to call me Irenika.

To my Uncle Wally,  As I said to you in our last phone call, you will always be held in my memory with the most fun and hilarious times in my life.  Thank you so much for being a huge part of who I am today, by showing me it's OK to be "weird" and to always have a positive sense of humor!  On top of that, you inspired me to be interested in science and geology, something I still cherish today and has helped me to not only love and respect nature, but to also become the engineer I am today. He had such a great sense of humor, knowledge of his researches that he shared of meds or vitamins, and wise advise on common things in life. I was glad to know him. He set a great example of how a married man shows love to his wife. As a sister in law, I've been inspired by him.

I’m so sorry Carol.  Wally was such a wonderful man it was an honor to have been his friend.  So many good times over the years – especially the guitar playing.  Man, we had a blast and a lot of laughs. The four of us sure had some great times as well.  Wally was always amazing at Trivial Pursuit! i am so sorry to hear of this. i knew Walter as a kid growing up on Bloomingdale St. his sister Lydia and i were best friends. prayers for you all and God bless you.

Wally and I played chess out of my toolbox and got caught a few times, until our supervisor caved and got into matches. Each day he would remind me to check out the “Farside” joke of the day on his calendar Anita gave him……he called me Johnny Muleskinner. We always shared best practices with each other on how to machine something.  I met his wife Anita at Sumitomo, and during my onboarding with her she said her husband was a toolmaker. I told her I met a jerk named Wally at Midwest Automation and  when her eyes got big, I told her we were best buds, kidding!!!!  Wally was the best.  We’ll play again soon buddy!
