William Joseph Clarke

Of Buffalo Grove

William J. Clarke was born on October 25, 1953 in Evergreen Park, Illinois to Michael and Margaret (nee Donohue) Clarke. He died Sunday, April 3, 2022 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Illinois.

Bill was a proud graduate of St. Rita High School and Lewis University. After graduation, he worked in the publishing industry as an accountant for many years. In his retirement, Bill enjoyed bike riding, hiking local forest preserves, and golfing. Bill was a generous man who volunteered for a period of time at the PADS Shelter Program. His other interests included traveling, exploring unique places in Chicago, and family game nights. A devoted dad, his children’s passions often became his own. He was fond of family traditions, especially the annual trip to Michigan for a weekend of apple picking, bike riding, and wine tasting.

Bill is survived by his spouse of 41 years Cathleen Lynn Clarke (nee Kuhn); his son Brian M. (Brittany) Clarke; his daughter Megan C. (Patrick) Gannon; his sister, Rosemary (Daniel) Niemiec; his brother-in-law Robert (Kim) Kuhn; his sister-in-law Christine (late Mark) O’Callaghan as well as his dear friend Barbara Nelson. He is also survived by several aunts and many nieces, nephews and cousins both here and in Ireland.

Visitation Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Prayers Monday, April 11, 2022 at 9:15am from the funeral home proceeding to St. Mary Parish 10 North Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089 for a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine.
