Adolf Pena Sylva, 69, was surrounded by family as he passed away on May 1, 2024 in Arlington, Texas due to congestive heart failure. This was following a valiant effort to repair and strengthen his heart. He was born on October 20, 1954 in Victoria, Texas to Valentin & Oralia Sylva. He really enjoyed his Mom’s cooking, eating peaches from their peach trees at home, & watching wrestling as a family. He loved growing up with a big family, but was closest with his brother Ernie. Adolf graduated from Stroman High School prior to enlisting in the USMC. He was proud to be a marine, a veteran, a father, a grandfather, a great-grandfather, a brother, and an uncle. Adolf worked as a pipe fitter, but he was respected by most for his knowledge of car and home repair, & his strong work ethic. He was a great listener, who did not leave anyone feeling judged. He was strong & tough, but also kind, loving, & gave the best hugs. He enjoyed attending church, reading his Bible & drinking a cup of coffee on his covered deck at home, spending time with his family, going for a drive while listening to music, & watching wrestling. He recently joked that he was considering becoming a professional wrestler, but only planned to wrestle the lady wrestlers.
His children, grandchildren, & great-grandchildren called him Pa. This was a name that was affectionately given to him by his oldest grandson. He had a great sense of humor, was generous, strong, and had unwavering unconditional abundant love for God & his family. Adolf was preceded in death by his father, Valentin Sylva, his mother, Oralia Sylva, his sister Josie (Juan) Reyes, his brother Arnulfo “Ernie” Sylva, & sister-in-law Cindia Sylva. He is survived by his first wife, and closest friend, Alesia Jones of Grapeland, Tx, their children, Margarito “Tony” Valadez of Alvarado, Tx, Demeatrice (Damon) Franks of Granbury, Tx, Heather O’Brien of Arlington, Tx, grandsons; Robert “Sean” Foster, Eddie James, Joshua “ Taylor” (Samantha) Valadez, Bryan James, Richard (Anissa) Stanley, Justin (Madelon) Herod, Stetson Herod, & Matthew O’Brien, great grandchildren: Addyson Foster, Chloe James, Hudson Valadez, Aubrey Foster, Marcus James, Beaux James, Nash Valadez, Cooper Foster, Emersyn Herod, Rory James, & Everett Herod, brothers; Valentin “Val Jr.” Sylva, David (Patsy) Sylva, Adam (Nancy) Sylva, Jesse “Danny” Sylva, Eddie (Marina) Sylva, sisters; Sylvia Garcia, Irma Rosas, Lydia Figueroa, Connie (Robert) Witherspoon, sister-in-law Debbie Sylva, & ubiquitous adoring nieces & nephews.
