Anthony Worthington Jackson, Sr. was born on February 1, 1937 and returned to our Lord and Savior Jesus on August 22, 2017. He was a devoted father, who dedicated his life of service to the United States Air Force and other civilians around him.
He was born in Baltimore, Maryland where he enlisted in the Air Force in 1955. He worked his way through the enlisted ranks until he became an officer in 1971. He accomplished this while attending college at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, earning a CPA and raising three children with his then wife Sandra T. Jackson.
His most amazing achievements in the Air Force besides the rank of Captain was receiving the Air Force Commendation Medal for Outstanding Achievement in Avionic Maintenance in 1972, and being the first African American to be part of the Nuclear Missile Program while stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska. He retired in 1981 after 25 years of military service. He also subsequently retired from the United States Postal Service after ten years.
He was generous to his children and a servant to strangers by rescuing dangling truckers from bridges, tipping servers in excess according to their need at the moment, and giving a helping hand when needed if he was able. His only request (besides doing it his way) was to pay the kindness forward.
He had a quirky sense of humor that he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He joked two weeks prior to his passing that he was feeding his stump (amputated leg) Carnation Instant Breakfast, which is why his blood sugars may have been low.
He is preceded in death by his father Howard W. Jackson and mother Katherine K. Jackson. He is survived by his son Svn Seven (Anthony W. Jackson, Jr.) and his wife Tiffany, his daughters Maria C. Fisher and her husband Brian, and Linda M. Jackson, and grandchildren Brandon, Anthony III, Acacia, Anastasia, Alexis, Caleb, Joseph, Hannah and Bliss.
Arrangements under the direction of Moore Funeral Home, Bowen Road Chapel, Arlington, TX.
