Carleen "Cookie" Kelley

Nona Carleen Kelley aka Carleen or Cookie died at age 80 years old on May 28, 2016 at 3:20 am in Ft. Worth, TX where she spent the last years of her life. She was born to Carl Edward Mooneyham and Birdie Winona Dowdie in Hobart, OK on November 12, 1935. Carleen is survived by her 3 children and their spouses, Warren and Christina Shephard, Carla Kelley-Gonzales, Michael Gonzales and Nina and Daryl Einck. She was blessed with 7 grandchildren Julia Marton, Jordan Beyeler, Katie Einck, Brady Beyeler, Alex Gonzales, Amanda Einck and Andrew Einck. Her brothers Carol and Joel Newcomb are her last remaining siblings.

Carleen spent most of her adult years in Wichita, KS. She retired at age 65 while in a leadership position for the Kansas Credit Union League. She loved her work and her work family. Carleen was very loyal to the credit union purpose.

Carleen survived many tough times in her life with grace, forgiveness and integrity. She was ever ready to give a friend or stranger a smile, a hug and therefore a lighter step in their life. She was lovingly called Cookie by family, friends and Grammy by her grandchildren. She taught and inspired her children and grandchildren, as well as others, to look to Jesus for guidance, grace, and everlasting love. Faith and love were truly her driving force. She was funny, witty, thoughtful, strong, intelligent, loving, caring, patient and fiercely loyal. Her children and grandchildren indicate she is the kind of person they would like to be when they grow up. Her family and friends are left with wonderful memories of their adventures with Grammy, Cookie or Carleen. She is now dancing in Heaven with her beloved sister (Jerri), mother and extended family.
