David “the Dude” attended Arlington High School, where he was a pitcher for the Colts baseball team. After graduation, he built a beautiful life in his hometown. He met his wife, Dianne Goode Brannon, in Arlington. They married on February 14, 1984 and lived in Arlington until his passing 40 years later.
A loving husband to Dianne Brannon and a devoted father, David is survived by his daughter, Michelle Brookshire and husband Keith Brookshire and grandchildren Sadie and Colt of McKinney, TX; son, Wesley Brannon of Arlington, TX; sister, Sally Evans and husband Mike Evans of Carrollton, TX; brother, John Brannon, of Iraan, TX; sister, Rosie Nolan and husband, Patrick Nolan of Arlington, TX; brother, Steve Brannon and wife, Cathy Brannon of Culloden, West Virginia; sister, Susan Campbell of Arlington, TX, and many nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss him deeply. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zack and Barbara Brannon of Arlington, TX.
Known for his love of watching baseball, football and NASCAR, David found true joy in the simple pleasures of life. He never met a stranger and would make friends wherever he went. An avid fan of the Texas Rangers, he was so happy when the Rangers (finally) won the World Series in 2023. He loved cruising in his beloved silver Camaro. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family. He was known for inventing games with his grandchildren. He was a constant presence in the stands for his children and grandchildren for their various sports and activities (and usually the loudest!). He was a jokester and loved pulling pranks. These moments were the cornerstone of his happiness, and they encapsulate the warm, joyful spirit he carried with him always.
His legacy of laughter and love will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A celebration of life for David will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, 4216 S. Bowen Road, Arlington, TX 76016.
