Deborah Paige Vivas Nelson

Deborah Paige Vivas Nelson, 59, of Midlothian, was called home to be with her heavenly father on the morning of Thursday, April 7, 2011 after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer. She was surrounded by her family & loved ones.

Debie was born February 5, 1952 in Hopewell, Virginia. She was the daughter of Peggy J. D. Vivas and Philip M. Vivas, Sr. of Chester, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her father and first husband, SSgt. Patrick L. Cypher, Sr. of the USAF. Debie was a Christian woman & member of the Church of Christ with a beautiful voice that was music to the Lord and all those who heard it. Debie attended Virginia Commonwealth University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. She continued her education at Abilene Christian University until she attained her Master’s Degree in Nursing. Debie was recently retired from the position of Regional Director for the Department of Aging & Disability Services for the State of Texas.

She is survived by her husband, James R. Nelson. Her son; Patrick “Cy” L. Cypher, Jr. of Abilene; Daughters, Jennifer L. Cypher and Elizabeth M. Cypher of Abilene; Step-Daughters, Brittany L. Nelson of Midlothian and Candice G. Brewer & her husband Robby of Leander; Step-Son Lance R. Nelson of Austin. Mother, Peggy J. D. Vivas of Chester, Virginia; Brother Philip M. Vivas, Jr. & wife Joanne of Chester, Virginia; Sisters Elizabeth V. Turner & her husband Steve of Chester, Virginia and Burma L. Brummitt & her husband Robert of Midlothian. And numerous nieces and nephews that loved her dearly.

Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2011 at Moore Bowen Road Funeral home, 4216 S. Bowen Rd., Arlington, TX 76016. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories, Abilene, TX. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home.
