Dylan Lane Godfrey, 25, peacefully passed away on April 11, 2020 in Dallas, Texas after a lengthy stay in ICU battling chronic organ rejection and multiple infections. His final days were spent surrounded by family and listening to the beautiful words of how much he’s loved by family and friends.
A beautiful soul, Dylan, came into our lives on June 30, 1994 in Arlington, Texas. Dylan loved spending time with his family and friends, going to the beach, playing golf and X-Box Live, listening to music and dancing, watching Food Network while making plans for he and his mom to take cooking classes together, dining out and going to the movies. Upon entering high school, with amazing self-discipline and confidence, Dylan tried out for the high school golf team with a set of old Ben Hogan blades! He was chosen by the coaches out of many different age high schoolers to be on the high school golf team his freshman year. While playing golf at different courses, strangers would comment, “he has such a beautiful natural swing”. Dylan graduated from James Martin High School in Arlington, Texas.
Dylan bravely fought cystic fibrosis his entire life and was blessed when he received a double lung transplant. The last 18 ½ months of his life, he enjoyed a different perspective on life. Although he fought this vicious, chronic illness, he always was kindhearted and had a winning smile on his face. He was funny and a joy to be around. Everyone he touched appreciated his grace and recognized him as a genuine caring person. “You have inspired and taught me to be positive no matter what happens in our lives.” Dylan will truly be missed every day. He will forever remain in our hearts.
Dylan is preceded in death by his eldest brother, Joshua Michael Godfrey and maternal grandfather, Gerald Vasek.
Dylan is survived by his loving mother, Melody Vasek McIntosh and step-father, Robert McIntosh; father, Michael Godfrey and step-mother, Krisi Godfrey; brother, Casey Godfrey; maternal grandmother, Charlsie Vasek; paternal grandparents, Jack Sr. and Patricia Godfrey; step-sisters, Lillian Edwards, Cheyenne Hamblin, Connor Poole; step-brother, Cameron McIntosh; and numerous extended family and friends.
