Ed loved spending time with his family and friends, fishing, and playing (usually winning) dominoes. He joined the United States Air Force at just 17, telling the recruiter a little white lie about his age so that he could serve his country. Upon retirement from General Motors in 1998, he spent much of his time caring for his family.
At family gatherings, Ed could be found sitting at the head of the table talking about cars or reminiscing about his hunting and fishing days. He also enjoyed long phone conversations with his brother, Stan, reading western novels, and bragging about his beloved children and grandchildren. Most of all, he dearly cherished time spent with his sweetheart and wife, Marge. He was known for giving the best hugs and could always make someone smile with a well-timed prank or encouraging word.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Josh Cherry and Larry Hodgson. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marge Cherry; son, Kenneth Cherry and wife Patty; daughter, Marti Diaz and husband Fred; grandchildren KC Cherry, Bryan Romo, Allison Hurtado, and Haley Diaz; and great-granddaughter, Naomi Benton.
