

He was born on August 2, 1943 in Guilford County, NC and grew up in Norfolk, VA. He graduated from Norview High School in 1961, in Norfolk VA, then went onto graduating from Old Dominion University in 1966. He received his Master's Degree in Dallas, Texas. After college, he started his career as an Engineer building airplanes for the government and then built ships for the Navy in Pascagoula, MS until retiring in 2012.
Jim loved riding horses with his family and friends while living in Rendon, Texas, outside of Fort Worth. He also enjoyed playing softball and umpiring the games. After moving to MS to build ships, he fell in love with classic cars. After retirement, he spent his time earning licenses to be a Financial Advisor. In his spare time he produced short films and worked on films in New Orleans, LA.
He is preceded in death by his Mother, Mertice Outlaw Young, Stepfather Jim Young, and Father John J. Wilkerson.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Seitz Wilkerson; daughter, Pamela Watson and her husband, Jimmy Watson, and his son, Chris Wilkerson and his wife, Cindy King Wilkerson; granddaughter, Breanne Moore, and granddaughter, Samantha Wilkerson; his brother, John S Wilkerson and his wife, Carol Wilkerson; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
The Wilkerson family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, and assistants at Singing River Hospital and wonderful people with Hospice of Light.
In Honor of Jim Wilkerson, there will be a Memorial Service at 11:00AM, Friday August, 29 2025 at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home - 4216 S Bowen Rd. Arlington, TX 76016.
