

Joanne Middleton, 82, of Cedar Hill, Texas passed away suddenly after a brief illness on July 22, 2023. We know she was happy to reunite with her beloved husband, Robert Middleton, whom she adored through 62 years of marriage.
Jo was born March 3, 1941, in Tallassee, AL. She graduated from Tanner High School in Athens, Alabama. She met Bob in Ft. Benning, GA where he was based in the Army, and they were married on March 14, 1960. They had a most adventurous life together spending much of their time in southern California. She worked for many years in the insurance industry where she made lifelong friends.
Jo and Bob spent their last years in Cedar Hill, Texas where they made many friends through their church, Dallas First Church of the Nazarene, the train club and had many wonderful neighbors. Jo was a caretaker of many, and you could find her on any given day shuttling someone to a doctor’s appointment, taking someone to lunch or being a gracious host in her home to friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her father Doyle Gaither, her mother Hettie Gaither, her sister Dorothy Crisler and her husband Robert a short 8 months ago. She is survived by her brothers Dr. Billy Gaither, Tommy Gaither, sisters Carol Mathews, Kay Dorow and husband Al, and Fairie Gibbons and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many friends from coast to coast. Aunt Jo loved her nieces and nephews dearly.
Jo demonstrated a strong faith in God by her actions. She will always be remembered for the kindness, love and care she showed to those around her.
Jo and Bob will both be interred in San Diego, California on August 17, 2023. A Celebration of Life will be held at Dallas First Church of the Nazarene 825 N Cockrell Hill Rd, DeSoto, TX 75115 on Saturday, August 26th at 3:00 p.m.
