Judy lived a vibrant and generous life, full of warmth, laughter, and an open heart. She never met a stranger, and her joyful, outgoing nature left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She had a deep love for fashion and enjoyed shopping—always finding thoughtful treasures to share with her loved ones. Dining out brought her joy, especially visits to Denny’s and Cracker Barrel, where she could enjoy good food and good company.
Judy’s unwavering faith in God was a guiding light throughout her life. Her conversations were often filled with heartfelt “God bless yous” and sincere expressions of gratitude like “Thank God,” which she offered freely and often. Her deep spiritual strength gave her comfort, resilience, and joy, and it shone through in the way she loved others so openly and unconditionally. Her faith was not only spoken—it was lived.
A skilled upholsterer, Judy worked for Vecta/Steelcase for many years, taking pride in her work and dedication. Beyond her career, she was a devoted military wife to TSgt. Tom Novak (USAF Ret.), with whom she shared almost 35years of marriage. The couple was married on March 15, 1968, and together they built a loving home grounded in service, family, and strength.
Judy’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her daughter, Terri Cearley and husband Jim; son, Gary Novak; grandchildren, K’Leigh Nicks and husband Jason, Cody Cearley, Connor Cearley and wife McKenzie, Michael Novak and wife Kaitlyn, Cassie Novak, Courtney Novak, Caleb “CJ” Woolley and wife Nicole, and Sarah Barrera and husband Adrian; granddaughter-in-law, Cheyenne Cearley; 13 great-grandchildren; two nephews; and a wide circle of cherished friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tom Novak; her parents, Thaddeus and Marjorie Mikulicz; and her brothers, Terry Mikulicz and Ted Mikulicz.
Judy’s legacy of kindness, love, and laughter lives on in all who knew her. Her memory will be forever treasured by those whose lives she touched
