Laveta was born November 6, 1945 in Cherokee, Oklahoma to Laura Geneva (Brown) Ream and Hiram E. (Gene) Ream. She departed this life and graduated to home in heaven on January 29,2022 at Arlington, Texas.
She was married to Billy Joe Summerlin on July 31, 1971 in Cherokee, Oklahoma. Cherokee United Methodist Church.
To this union one child was born: A son Duane Michael Summerlin.
She attended all her school years in Cherokee graduating May 1963
She graduated from Northwestern State College (Northwestern Oklahoma State University), Alva, Oklahoma, in May 1967 with a Bachelor's Degree History
She also graduated from Wichita State University in Wichita, KS with a Masters Degree is History
Laveta worked for the Social Security Administration
Surviving are her husband: Billy Joe Summerlin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Laura Ream, and her youngest sister, Charlotte Ream.
