Mary Irene Roberson

Mary “Irene” Roberson, 95, passed away Tuesday, April 26 as a result of complications from pneumonia. Irene was born on June 16, 1920 in Lecta, Ohio to Charles and Nancy Saunders. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William M. Roberson from Huntington, West Virginia. Surviving is a brother, Leon Saunders of Gallipolis, Ohio along with two nephews, and a son, Gary Roberson of Arlington, Texas.

Irene and her husband lived in multiple locales over the years and always managed to secure life-long friendships at each juncture mostly as a result of their love of dancing.

Following the loss of her husband in 1984, Irene spent the last 30 years living in her Arlington, Texas home near her son and enjoying the close companionship of a wonderful neighborhood that treated her as one of their own. Her community front porch was her sanctuary, and loved by all. Even though she was unable to do so recently, she still had visions of going shopping. She will be dearly missed.

A special thanks goes out to the folks at Heritage Oaks who took such great care of her in the final months of her life.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, April 30 at Moore Funeral Home on South Bowen Road in Arlington, Texas. Visitation will be at 10:30AM followed by a service in the chapel at 11:30.
