

Nancy Jean (Smith) Ryan entered this life on September 19, 1944 in Fort Worth, Texas. She lived in the Retta area, about a mile south of the C.M. Maxwell store, almost her entire life. She attended the Rendon Elementary School until she transferred to the New Erma Nash School in Mansfield. It was at Mansfield High School that she met the love of her life, Herbert Pershing (aka Buddy) Ryan. They were married on August 11,1961 in Texarkana Arkansas. They were devoted to each other for over 59 years. They raised two sons, Herbert Pershing Ryan II and John Paul Ryan. Nancy passed to her eternal heavenly life on June 3, 2021. She died at home surrounded by her family, after an extended illness and numerous hospital stays. Nancy had many fond memories of her many trips to the Texas coast and many cruises. Nancy was blessed with an exceptional memory and we are thankful for her willingness to share her recollections whenever prompted.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Samuel Smith and Melissa E. Hudson Smith, her brother Donald Paul Ray Smith, her sister Martha Smith Whisenant, her grandson baby Wyatt, her great-grandson Baby Sam and her brothers-in-law Elmer H. Whisenant and Perry Ryan.
She is survived by her loving husband, Buddy and her two sons Herbert Pershing Ryan II (wife April Chaney Ryan) and John Paul Ryan (wife Shelby) and her brother Clyde and wife Becky of Emory TX, brother-in-law James Ryan (wife Barbara) and sister-in-law Barbara Smith of Oklahoma, Granny will also be missed by her grandchildren, Herbert (Trey), Rex, Paul, and Rylee and by her 12 great-grandchildren and many nephews, nieces, cousins, other extended family and friends.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Moore in Arlington.
