ARLINGTON- Richard Wayne Shaffer, 61, went home to be with our Lord on Monday, March 19, 2012, in Arlington. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, March 22 at 2:00 PM at Moore Funeral Home, 4216 S. Bowen Road in Arlington. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 PM until time of service. He was a veteran of both the US Navy and Army, and retired after 31 years with General Motors. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. Survivors: He leaves behind his wife of 21 years, Julie Shaffer; and his five children, Ryan Hiser, Kristy Hiser, Terra Techmeyer, Erica Techmeyer, and Travis Shaffer. He also leaves behind his parents, Wayne and Gloria Shaffer; brother David Shaffer and his wife, Nancy; seven grandchildren; and two nephews. He loved God and his family above all else and he will be sorely missed by many.
