Obituary of Anne Windsor Horton

IN THE CARE OF

Murphy Funeral Homes

Our dear Anne passed January 3, 2020 after a ten year struggle with early-onset Alzheimer’s. She was a gracious, kind, beautiful lady who was loved by all who knew her. She was covid negative but because of restrictions she passed alone except for the caring staff at Sunrise at Bluemont and hospice. She is survived by her husband Jack D. Horton (a cardiologist), her son Jack E. Horton (a student at Duke) and her brothers Luke and Scott Ward (engineers in Blacksburg and California respectively). She graduated from William & Mary and received her master’s from VCU. She was a deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Arlington, a Mensa member, a Kappa sister, and associate editor of Richmond Magazine and a technology editor for National School Board Assoc. She was athletic, enjoying tennis, skiing, sailing and field hockey. Her hobbies included playing the piano and guitar, opera, travel and dancing. She married her husband in 1997 after having met him while waltzing at the Austrian Embassy. Her chief joy was her family where she was a wonderful and loving wife and mother. She would always greet her husband with a hug and kiss which he has sorely missed in this time of covid. We are so thankful to have known, loved and been loved by this extraordinary woman. Services will be postponed to a later date when those fortunate to have known her can safely gather.
