Brad enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on October 12, 2004 to April 11, 2010 as a Machine Gunner (0331) and later became an 8156 Marine Security Guard. Brad served one tour in Iraq with 3rd Battalion 1st Marines where he was awarded two Purple Hearts and the Combat Action Ribbon. Then as a Marine Security Guard, he served overseas tours in: Peru, Oman, Iraq, and Serbia. Brad was honorably discharged on April 11th of 2010 where he completed an undergraduate and Master’s degree while simultaneously working to build a career in Cyber Security.
After all of his hard work and sacrifice, Brad established Mainstay Information Systems which is a CVE Certified Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) that provides expert cyber security and emerging technology integration to the federal government and industry. Brad was incredibly proud of his business and it showed in how much it grew and the excitement in his voice when he discussed it.
In Brad’s spare time, he was an avid golfer. He loved golf so much that none of his family or friends would willingly play against him in order to keep our pride. If Brad wasn’t golfing, you could find him surrounded by his friends or family where he’d be eating meat, drinking salt water, and filling the room with his infectious laughter. Brad was also actively involved in the community through The Wounded Warrior Project, VetSports, The Salute Military Golf Association (SMGA), and The Veteran Golfers Association (VGA). While overly competitive, Brad had a large heart that all of his friends and family admired.
Brad is preceded in death by many loved ones. He is survived by his mother, Jennifer Warren; his siblings, Heidi McMillin, Katelyn Plumline, and Tyler Plumline; his grandfather, Ted Pierce; his goddaughter, Eva Ramsey; multiple cousins, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and many devoted friends.
In lieu of flowers since all of us live out of town and will be traveling in, we ask that anyone who wants to send us something to leave a donation in honor of Bradlee Jay Pierce to the Wounded Warrior Project.
