

Bruce was born in Guaro, Cuba to Francis R. Storms and Mary (McIntyre) Storms. He graduated from Northfield Mount Hermon School in MA, then earned his B.A. from Wesleyan University, CT, in 1954 and his M.B.A from New York University in 1962.
He met Ann Tuthill, the love of his life, while they were summer camp counselors at Camp Sloane in Lakeville, CT. They were married in 1956 and raised their three children in Ridgewood, NJ, where they lived until moving recently to Alexandria, VA, to be near their daughter Katy.
While at Wesleyan, Bruce was a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity. After college, he served in the Army in post-war Germany. When he returned to the United States, he married Ann and started his career at Hanover Bank in New York, NY, then worked at American Express, and ultimately finished his banking career at The United States Trust Company of New York. He traveled throughout Latin America using his fluency in Spanish from his childhood in Cuba.
Bruce loved to travel with his family, especially to the Caribbean and to Cape Cod to enjoy holidays at his parents’ home. He loved to sing and joined the chorus at Mount Hermon, Wesleyan, the University Glee Club of New York, the Barbershop Quartet, and West Presbyterian Church of Ridgewood.
After retirement, Bruce and Ann loved traveling together and enjoying their pool. He was an avid participant in Mount Hermon and Wesleyan reunions and was close to his alumni friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his son Tim Storms and his wife Teri, daughter Katy Denman and her husband Chip, grandchildren Meghan Storms, Dan Storms and his wife Liz, Chad, Jay, and Will Denman, and great-grandchildren Anna and Henry Storms. He was predeceased by his beloved Ann in 2024 and by his daughter Sara Storms in 1979.
