Claudia Lazaris devoted her life to caring for others. For more than three decades, she served children, adults, and families with intellectual and developmental disabilities, offering guidance, advocacy, and compassion through her work with Arlington County Government and community organizations.
She earned a Master’s degree in Counseling and Development from George Mason University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Fluent in English and Spanish, Claudia was known for her ability to connect deeply with people from all walks of life, helping families navigate complex systems with patience and respect. She served in numerous leadership and clinical roles within Arlington County Government and community based organizations, providing case management, behavioral intervention, and person-centered support.
Above all, Claudia will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a passion for dancing, traveling, learning languages, and meeting new people, and she brought the same warmth and curiosity into her role as a wife, parent, and grandparent. She delighted in dancing with her husband in the kitchen while sharing late-night paella traditions. She ensured that she was at every event possible for each of her grandchildren. Claudia was the steadfast advocate for every member of her family—always present, day and night, with boundless love and support. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Rolandos; her children, Nicole and Andres; and her five cherished grandchildren. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the family she loved so deeply.
