Dave was a fellow lover of tennis (and the New York Yankees), and I enjoyed our discussions after tennis as much as I did the tennis. He spoke fondly of his family, his work, and his life. (One example was how much he enjoyed walking out to Red Square in Moscow with his wife when the snow was falling and it was freezing.) I played tennis with Dave the day he had his heart attack, and we had a delightful discussion after the tennis. The last time I saw him was when he was sitting with the group, chatting away end snacking on a donut.  Dave was a gentleman, friend and delightful conversationalist. My thoughts and prayers are with the Malone family at the sudden loss of Dave. I enjoyed my many years of Dave's friendship whether it was on the tennis court, on the golf course, or at our tennis luncheons. He will be missed by all.

I will certainly miss Dave with whom I often shared fellowship at the McLean Racquet Club.  We also spend a week together as part of a tennis foursome in Hilton Head, SC.  I admired his intellect and studied opinions on a variety of subjects.  His  opinions were always delivered from empirical resources  and  totally without rhetoric.   He was a good man.

Last week a group of eight or so of Dave's tennis playing friends gathered at the tennis club after our usual playing time.  We lit a candle, each of us said a few remarks about our favorite memories of Dave, and someone said a prayer in his honor.

My deep and sincere condolences to the entire Malone family on the sudden loss of Dave. 

I knew Dave as a fellow tennis player, and I was in the party of four who went to Hilton Head to play tennis for a week last fall.   Tennis was fun with Dave but more enjoyable were the spirited debates afterwards over coffee, when his keen intellect was in play.  We frequently disagreed but in the right spirit, where a well stated argument was the important thing.  I will miss him a lot.
