In Memory of Gail Mary Bennett September 22, 1944- September 8, 2017 Gail Bennett of Arlington, Virginia, passed away after a short illness, on Friday, September 8, 2017. Born in New York City, the eldest daughter of Colonel James Gordon Bennett, Retired U.S. Army and Dorothy Ann Burden, she spent her childhood growing up in the Orient, Canada and the United States. Gail graduated from Mount Saint Mary’s College in Los Angeles, California followed by working in the publishing field in New York City. She then moved to Washington, DC and recently celebrated her 30th year as the Executive Assistant to the Regional Vice Presidents and General Managers during her years at the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown. Throughout her career, she touched thousands of lives through her kindness, generosity and caring. Gail was relied upon day in and day out by those with whom she worked. In the most discreet and subtle way she guided and helped many of the now prominent Four Seasons Managers and staff toward their success. Gail’s keen intellect, memory and savvy, her breadth and depth of knowledge of people and her vast network of friends and colleagues around the world are legendary. She had the most elegant touch with her writing and always chose the perfect gifts and amenities for friends and guests. To know Gail, is to have been blessed by her love of beauty and elegance in dress and style and to have shared many laughs and stories. She delighted in giggling over the everyday human foibles and sharing great food and wine. She could discuss the latest win or loss of practically every sports team and knew the important players. She was passionate about the theatre, films, opera, visual arts, travel and literature. Gail was an institution, an inspiration and beloved friend and colleague. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her sister, Eileen Bennett of Arlington, Virginia. Friends and colleagues will be welcomed at a Memorial Gathering at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, VA on Sunday, September 17, 2017 from 2:00pm-5:00pm.
