Jeanne was born in Staunton, Virginia on June 18, 1928 and was the daughter of Clyde and Helene Simmons. Her younger sister, Marjorie Crump predeceased her. Her family moved to Arlington in 1933, and she remained in this community all of her life. She was a genteel lady and was always happiest surrounded by her family.
She shared over sixty-six years of devout love with her husband, Preston C. Caruthers. They raised five children: Stephen Caruthers (LouAnn Caruthers), John Creasy (Kit Creasy), Lynn Shadyac (Richard Shadyac – deceased), Dana Snyder (Jack Snyder) and Lisa Dawson (Porter Dawson).
She treasured her eight grandchildren: Dana Cassidy, Kellie Caruthers, Ashley German, Carlyn Caruthers, Justin Miller, Preston Miller, Catherine Dawson and Will Dawson. She was extremely proud of her fourteen great grandchildren: Madison Cassidy, Cameron Cassidy, Stephen Linville, Annie Linville, Sailor German, Ryland German, Robert German, Phoebe Miller, Clementine Miller, Bo Miller, Reese Miller, Harper Miller, Wyatt Miller and Hudson Miller.
Special gratitude is extended to Tianeseng Luangphinith, who became a dedicated member of the family during the seventeen years that she affectionately cared for her. Also Lydia Motanya, Margaret Waruri and Dolly Williams were a loyal and vital part of her care.
