MSgt Joseph B. Howie USF Ret, 69, of Roanoke, VA passed away on July 14, 2020.
Joseph was born on July 10, 1951, in Washington, D.C., to the late William Howie and the late Anna (Matais) Howie.
He is survived by his siblings, James Howie, Carol Mikoni (Thomas), Deborah Gibson, Patricia Murray, and Mary Howie; also, his five nephews and three grand-nephews; he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Howie.
Joseph enlisted in the United States Air Force in June 1971. During his time in the military, he traveled extensively across Europe and the United States. He also went back to college and graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in 1984. He retired from the Air Force in October 1995.
Joe had a zest for life and always greeted everyone with a smile. He had a great sense of humor and he never met a pun he didn't like! He loved his friends & family and was generous to a fault. He enjoyed visiting family, attending out of state weddings, and riding his Harley wherever the road took him.
Joseph was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery on January 7, 2021.
