Luz G. Segovia Jr., 89, of Springfield VA, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Daniel Segovia, of nearly 65 years. Luz is the devoted father of Ricardo Daniel Segovia and his wife MaryAnn Segovia, Elizabeth Segovia Spoth and her husband Christopher Spoth, and Michael Segovia; loving grandfather of Nicolas Daniel Segovia, Catherine Elizabeth Sannazzaro and her husband Anthony Sannazzaro, Sarah Christina Kelley and her husband Brian Kelley, Carole Spoth Fleming and her husband Joseph Fleming. He was also survived by two great-grandsons, John Christopher Kelley and James Patrick Kelley. He was proceeded in death by three sisters; Estella Reza, Felicitas Iruegas, Emma Segovia, and two brothers; Tuahtemoc Segovia, and Rudy Segovia. He is survived by three brothers; Eleazar Segovia, Servando Segovia, and Encarnacion Segovia. Born in New Braunfels, Texas, he was the son of Luz Segovia and Isabel Gonzalez. Luz proudly served 22 years in the Air Force and 24 years in civil service in the field of photography. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. Luz was a friend to all he met and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd., Arlington VA 22203 on Friday, December 8 from 3 - 5 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 3304 Washington Blvd., Arlington VA, Saturday, December 9 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. There will be a reception following the Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. at the Community Center of Fairfax senior living community at 9140 Belvoir Woods Parkway, Ft. Belvoir VA 22060.
