Margaret Banton Crist Devers

Margaret Banton Crist Devers, 99, of Arlington Virginia, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 31, 2013.

Mrs. Devers was born June 20, 1914, in Howardsville, Virginia to Charles Mitchell and Narcissie Lee Peters Banton.

She grew up on “Walton’s Mountain,” attended Schuyler High School and married the late John Herbert Crist. After his death she moved to Arlington, Virginia in 1942. In 1961, she met and married John Burrell Devers. Mrs. Devers worked for the Veterans Administration and then the Department of Agriculture until 1975.

She was an active member of the Arlington Baptist Church and belonged to the Eastern Star. Her interests included family and gardening.

Mrs. Devers was preceded in death by her husband, John Burrell Devers, her parents and nine siblings.

She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Crist Regan; two grandsons and their spouses, John and Judy Regan, and Chris and Tina Regan; and 4 great-grandchildren Joseph Regan, Jacqueline Regan, Keara Regan, and Sean Regan.

The family will receive visitors at Murphy Funeral Home,4510 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA, Friday, August 2 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The funeral will be held Saturday, August 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Arlington Baptist Church, 714 S Monroe St, Arlington, Virginia, followed by a graveside service at Columbia Gardens Cemetery, 3411 Arlington Blvd, Arlington, Virginia.
