Marguerite passed from this life into the kingdom of heaven on December 31, 2021, with her devoted husband John and best friend and companion Wanda at her side. Her body had dealt with multiple sclerosis for three decades and for the last few years she survived numerous bouts of pneumonia and other infections and long hospital stays until her body couldn't fight any longer.
She maintained a positive outlook and sassy disposition to the end and had faith in the everlasting life in heaven. Marguerite was born on September 8, 1950 to William and Adeline (Cayouette) Savard in Rumford, Maine. She spent much of her childhood in Rumford, Maine and upon graduating from St. Stephen school in 1967, Marguerite moved to Arlington, Virginia recruited by the Navy civilian service to work in the photo center, after working at the photo center. After working at the photo center, she took a job at the Association Chambers of Commerce as an event planner. She joined Our Lady of Lordes Church and became active in the church and the community. Marguerite was recruited as the executive assistant for Arch Lustberg Communications Inc., essentially she became Mr. Lustberg's girl friday.
She was most proud of the work to create a safe place for children at the Aurora Hills playground and the creation of a sidewalk on Fern Street. She was active in her church and served on committees and charity drives. While active in church groups she met the love of her life John Ellis Stone. She proposed to him on Sadie Hawkins Day and they were married on May 1, 2000. Marguerite was always smiling and laughing and thinking of others. She enjoyed crafts and her kitties and was very active even as her multiple sclerosis started to limit her mobility. Marguerite said, "my 40th birthday present was MS. As she became less mobile she still searched for ways to serve her community. She never wanted anyone to pity her or feel sorry for her.
She was a very resilient person and was fortunate to have such devoted and loving spouse who stood by her throughout her illness always cheering her on. Marguerite will leave a void in many lives but her memory will live on in our hearts. Marguerite was predeceased by her parents her infant brother Billy boy and her brother Louis.
She is survived by her brother Jean, sister-in-law’s Allison and Anita, nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews and numerous cousins as well as many friends. Special thanks goes to Wanda Jackson Reed and her husband Eddie and their extended family who made the last years of her life filled with laughter and friendship.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation be made in Marguerite's memory to the Shriners Children’s Hospital or the Purple Heart Foundation.
