

Mary Christine McLean, age 52, died suddenly on February 20, 2015 at the Virginia Hospital Center, Arlington. Born on Okinawa, she was the daughter of Robert L. and Mary J. (Mahoney) Hegerich of Annandale, VA.
She was a graduate of the University of Virginia, where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Mathematics and a Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering. She was a dedicated wife and mother and a devoted member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. She was a long-time employee of Photon Research Associates and later Raytheon. She worked mainly in Ballistic Missile Defense and formerly served as the Deputy Director for Test & Evaluation, supporting the US Missile Defense Agency. She had a passion for mentoring young adults in high school, college, and as they continued in their career.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Jeffrey A. McLean of Arlington; her daughter Christine A. McLean of Davis, CA and Geneva, Switzerland; and her son Jeffrey A. McLean, Jr. of Arlington. She is also survived by her parents; two brothers - Robert Hegerich, Jr (Teresa) of Aberdeen, NJ and James Hegerich (Marge) of Mt. Airy, MD; and two sisters - Patricia Hegerich of Redwood City, CA, and Susan Gilliam (Bruce) of Catonsville, MD. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Thursday, 26 Feb, 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 5533 16th St. N, Arlington VA. Memorial service will be at 10 AM on Friday, 27 Feb, at Trinity Presbyterian followed by burial at Columbia Gardens Cemetery. There will be a reception at the church following burial.
