I'm very saddened by Phyllis' death. I taught and coached with her (and Paul) for about 15 years. We had adjacent classrooms. Phyllis was a wonderful teacher, demanding with a gruff exterior although I'm sure her students knew, deep down, she was a caring softie!
I'll never forget the fun the coaching gang and our spouses, all of us, had at post-game parties--especially when we won!
Phyllis touched many people's lives. That's quite a tribute.

I remember how thrilled I was to hear the neighborhood news that a six year old girl was moving in around the corner. Phyllis and I were fast friends and played together every day we could. When Mrs. Bardonni discovered that it was not rabbits who were eating her precious parsley from her garden , but two little girls whom she saw climbing over her back fence. We were in trouble, but enjoyed our mischief! Phyllis was my best childhood buddy. Years later, we shared our memories and laughed and laughed. I can still hear her laughter! I will always miss her. Love to her family. Kathy Roeser

I have been friends with Phyllis since college. Our senior year we came home together to do our student teaching. She helped my husband-to-be pick out my engagement ring! We both had Christmas weddings which we were bridesmaids in both and I was happy & proud when she wore my wedding dress in hers!! We both had major snowstorms for our weddings, appropriately, as we loved snow & took off up north skiing every chance we could! I have great memories of this dear friend I’m missing!

Mrs. Mackie was my fifth-grade homeroom and math teacher at St. Patricks. She would put on a hard exterior toward her students, but you could easily tell that she was a big softie. She was one of my favorite teachers I have ever had. I remember her quirky phrases (which we called Mackie-isms) vividly. At the end of the school year, our class gift to her was a tray covered in all the Mackie-isms we had heard that year. I hope her family will continue to cherish that gift in her memory.

Phyllis was a remarkable friend, mentor, teacher, and colleague to me at Saint Patrick’s Episcopal Day School for the 13 years I served there with her. She was a gift and a blessing.
