Sawyer Roger Young
Age 90
Sawyer Roger Young, of Arlington, Virginia died on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Arleigh Burke Pavillion in McLean, Virginia. He served in WWII in the 3rd Army, 673rd Engineer Topographic Company, graduated from Yale School of Architecture in 1948, and later founded Young Associates, an architectural and development firm.
Predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Mary Virginia Ring; he is survived by his daughters, Kathryn Davis (Tom), Suzanne Bushfield (Robert), Patricia Young, and Virginia Boyer (Walter); ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Arlington Funeral Home, 3901 North Fairfax Drive, Arlington, Virginia. Interment will take place with military honors at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2011 at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, Virginia. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Mt. Vernon Place United Methodist Church, 900 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. 20001.
