

Susan Bond Foresman, age 88 years, of Arlington, Virginia, went to her heavenly home on November 21, 2018. Ms. Foresman was born in Philadelphia, PA on May 18, 1930, the daughter of Evelyn Susan Bond Foresman and Wilbur Sheffer Foresman, and grew up in Chevy Chase, MD. Having received a bachelor’s degree in home economics from the Pennsylvania State University in 1952, she served in the dietetics division at the New York Presbyterian Cornell Medical Center and then worked in the test kitchens of General Foods, where her gift of creativity was quickly recognized, resulting in her transfer to the food stylist/ photography division of the company. In 1960 she returned to the DC metropolitan area and quickly became a key party/event consultant to many DC notables. Among her earlier accomplishments were planning birthday parties for President and Mrs. Kennedy’s children in the White House and collaborating with a local florist in decorating the White House Christmas trees. Until mid-2018 she continued to be an essential party consultant to prominent hostesses in the DC area and elsewhere, including Mrs. John Sherman (Lorraine) Cooper. According to one client, Miss Foresman was involved in every decision in planning a party, from menu, to tablecloths, to china, to serving platters, waiters, and car parkers.
Over the years, Miss Foresman also freelanced as a food stylist for major companies, including Giant Foods and CorningWare.
Miss Foresman was preceded in death by her sister Cordelia Foresman Moore and her niece Martha Moore McShane. She is survived by her sister Nancy Foresman (Michael) Patton, nieces Laura Patton (Greg) Long, Linda Patton (Keith) Weiss, Pamela Moore (William) Mattes, Karen Moore (Charles) Layfield, Deborah Moore (Robert) Osborn, Sarah Moore (Michael) McKeever, nephew William (Barbara) Moore, and many cousins, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces, and a great grandnephew.
A service will be held in the new year with interment in Westminster, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Nature Conservancy, the World Wildlife Fund, or the Humane Society.
