VINCENT G. MASSARO, PH.D. Vincent G. Massaro was born December 26, 1937 in Buffalo, New York to John and Sarah Massaro. He graduated from Canisius College in 1959 with a B.S. in Economics and received his M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Notre Dame in 1963. From 1963 to 1965, Dr. Massaro was the recipient of a National Science Foundation - NATO Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Cambridge, where he met his future wife Denise Cousins. In 1966, Denise and Vince married and moved to Sleepy Hollow, New York where they lived until 2014. Over the course of his career, he worked at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, served as Senior Economist at the Conference Board, and was chief economic advisor and special assistant to the Hon. Nicholas F. Brady in the U.S. Senate. For the last 19 years of his career, Dr. Massaro was Professor of Finance in the College of Management at Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus where he served several years as chair of the department. He was a Life Member of Clare Hall College, University of Cambridge. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the International Academy of Business Disciplines and was a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Commerce and Management. Dr. Massaro was an honorary member and former Chairman of The Forecasters Club of New York. He authored numerous articles and books. Throughout his life, Vincent enjoyed hiking, running and outdoor activities. He was also an accomplished chess player and an active participant in his church, the Church of the Magdalene in New York. He was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather. Vincent passed peacefully away on November 6th 2016. He is survived by his wife Denise Massaro, a son John Massaro (daughter in law Patty Donnelly), a daughter Alexandra Voigt (son in law Steven Voigt) and grandchildren: Anna-Sophia Massaro, Patricia Massaro, Giovanna Massaro, William Voigt, Matthew Voigt, and Lillian Voigt all of Arlington, Virginia. He is also survived by his three sisters Jeanette Gonglewski, Prudence Sisti and Mary Ann Schmidt. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 11th at 10:30am at St. Agnes Catholic Church , 1919 N. Randolph Street, Arlington VA, followed by a burial at National Memorial Park in Falls Church. Arrangements are being made by Murphy Funeral Homes.
