

Walter Aubrey Lundy Jr – Died March 5, 2026 in Falls Church, Virginia. Born July 5, 1933 in Macon, Georgia. Graduated University of Georgia 1954 A.B. (Geography). As U.S. Air Force transport navigator officer 1954-1958, served in California and the Philippines. Graduated Georgetown University 1961, M.A. (International Relations). Entered Department of State Foreign Service 1960. Served as a political, counselor, and economic officer in: Colombo, Ceylon (Sri Lanka) 1961-63; Saigon, Vietnam 1964-1966; New Delhi, India 1969-73; Tehran, Iran 1973-75; and Seoul, Korea 1981-84. In Washington, DC served multiple assignments in the East Asia Pacific, African Affairs and Personnel Bureaus and as well as details to the Departments of Treasury (1966-1968) and Commerce (1976-77). Retired 1995. He and his wife of nearly 60 years, Mary Ann Bell who predeceased him in 2020, lived in Arlington, Virginia for over 40 years before moving to the Goodwin House retirement community in Falls Church, Virginia. Survived by daughters Lois Leinkram (Mark) and Susan Kampschror (John), both of Falls Church Virginia, and son Charles Lundy (Karen) of Arlington Virginia and grandchildren Amy (Aaron), Sara (Mike), Carrie, Katherine (Curtis), Elizabeth, Davis, Dean and Reagan and three great-grandchildren. His sisters Dorothy Wood and infant Ruth Lundy predeceased him. Memorial service 10AM March 27 at Walker Chapel United Methodist Church, 4102 North Glebe Road, Arlington Virginia 22207 where Walt and Mary Ann were active members for over 50 years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Walker Chapel or the Goodwin Living Foundation.
