Warren Sydney Albrittain

Warren Sydney Albrittain died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 10th. A lifelong resident of Arlington, Syd was husband to Whitney, and father to Meghan, Andrew, Liam, and Abby. He was the son of Gloria and the late Sydney E. Albrittain and brother of Nancy Bright (Christopher), Clare, Matthew, Chris, Mary (Bill Haas), Michael (Krissy), and Kerry Williams (Jim). Born in 1965, Syd was a 1983 graduate of Bishop O’Connell High School, and an active alumnus and philanthropic supporter. Graduating from James Madison University in 1987, he met his wife there, and they married in 1990. He worked alongside his family for over 35 years at Dittmar Company, rising to become one of the firm’s principals. Syd was a member of Washington Golf and Country Club where he especially enjoyed spending weekends on the golf course with friends. He loved spending time and traveling with his large, close-knit family and was an avid Washington sports fan throughout his life. Above all, Syd was a generous friend to everyone he encountered, a loving husband and a devoted father.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Murphy’s Funeral Home which is located at 4510 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, Virginia 22203. The wake will be held on Friday, January 15th, 2016 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, January 16th at 12 noon at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Arlington, Virginia which is located 1910 North Randolph Street, Arlington, 22207. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Syd’s memory may be made to Bishop O’Connell High School.
