

Leila Steckelberg passed away on April 7, 2012 at the age of 88 in Arlington, WA. She was born in 1923 in Arlington. Leila graduated from Arlington High School, Everett Junior College and the University of Washington. She taught school for many years and after teaching she worked for the Campfire Organization. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Dale Steckelberg, in 2004. Leila is survived by her son David Steckelberg, sister Rose Kimble and brother George Putnam. Leila was a very creative person and was a member of many organizations, which included Campfire Girls, 4H Club, Homemakers, Degree of Honor, county fair judging organizations and the Skagit Valley Rock and Mineral Club (Skagit Valley Gems). The family would especially like to thank Gail and Ron Thompson and Mary Jira for their help and caring, also Carrie and Renée for their day to day help and the Quilceda Manor for their help in the past. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 1 p.m. with viewing the preceding hour at Weller Funeral Home, 327 N. MacLeod Ave., Arlington, WA.
