Mr. Hawkins was born in St. Louis, Mo. on April 11, 1936, son of the late Arthur Lee Sr. and Vena Hawkins (nee Hazelwood). He is also survived by children Jane LaMear, Sue Terry, Tim (Marilyn) Cox, Jeff Cox and Dan Cox and the late Douglas Cox.
Mr. Hawkins was a sheet metal worker throughout his life but also enjoyed woodworking. Along with his wife Ruby, he built a life-size wooden stage coach and horses which are displayed prominently on his front lawn. He enjoyed dressing as Santa Claus for family get-togethers during the Christmas season. During the warmer months he took pride in his garden.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home 1081 Jeffco Blvd., Arnold, Mo. 63010. Interment will follow at Shepherd Hills Cemetery. Visitation is at the funeral home from 4-8 pm on Wednesday, April. 12.
