Looney, Walter Gene entered into rest Monday, Sept. 30, 2013. Walter G. Looney was born Sept. 21, 1933 to Purvis and Athel Looney in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Glenn and Roy Looney and a sister, Fern Morris.
He served proudly in the Navy during the Korean War. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Semo State University and a Master’s degree from SIU in Carbondale, IL. He held various positions in the Fox School System until his retirement in 1992.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty; a daughter, Elizabeth James and husband Rickey; a son, Walter Joseph Looney and wife Jennifer; three grandsons, Eric James, Dylan and Caleb Looney; two granddaughters, Taylor and Hannah Looney, another grandson, Travis Andrew James, preceded him in death.
He was a member of South County Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be conducted at HEILIGTAG-LANG-FENDLER Funeral Home, 1081 Jeffco Blvd. In Arnold on Sat., Oct. 5 at 11:00 AM. Visitation at the funeral home Fri. 4-8 PM Interment is private. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 9370 Olive Blvd, 63132.
