

Anne Sullivan Boyd, 87, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026. Born on July 5, 1938, in King William County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Edward Lewis “Jim” Sullivan and Bessie Tate Sullivan. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tommy Vance Boyd, of Ashland, Virginia.
Anne dedicated 27 years of service to the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad, where she was respected for her diligence and commitment. Following her retirement, she remained actively engaged in civic and community life, devoting countless hours to volunteer service and political involvement.
Her dedication to public service was recognized through her work with several former First Ladies of Virginia, including her appointment to Susan Allen’s Advisory Committee from March 15, 1995, to March 14, 1996. She further served on the Citizens Advisory Council for the Furnishings and Integrity of the Executive Mansion from April 1, 1996, to March 31, 2001. In honor of her volunteer efforts, she was presented with a flag flown over the Virginia State Capitol on December 8, 1997.
Anne also gave generously of her time supporting candidates running for public office, reflecting her deep interest in civic engagement and community leadership. She was an active member of the Women’s Club of Bowling Maxwell House in Richmond, Virginia, as well as the Hanover Republican Women’s Club in Hanover.
Anne will be remembered for her steadfast dedication, her sense of duty, and her quiet contributions to her community and state.
In keeping with Anne’s wishes, all services will be private.
