Barbara Hale Carr

Carr, Barbara Hale, age 76, of Ashland, Virginia passed away into the arms of God on April 27, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Paul Carr. She is survived by 3 children, Janet Spencer (Mike), Cindy Weston (Brad) and Sharon Johnson (Brad). She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Josh, Ben and Amanda Spencer; Cody and Kyle Weston; and Anna Johnson; sister, Nina Hale (Smitty) of Quinton; brothers, Richard Fred Hale (Betty) of Staunton and Michael Hale (Debbie) of Elmont; and other beloved family and friends. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Richard (Dick) Hale and Virginia B. Hale; and a nephew, Mark Hale of Staunton. Barbara was a proud graduate of Henry Clay High School and Radford University. She worked for Best Products Co. and at the Hanover County Public Schools Central Office from which she retired in 2003. She was a long-time member of Ashland Christian Church where she served as deaconess. She was a loving sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend. Her memory will be cherished forever. Visitation will be held at the Nelsen Funeral Home, Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 5-8 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Ashland Christian Church on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 11 AM. Interment will be at Woodland Cemetery, Ashland, VA.
