Born in Richmond, Virginia on April 15, 2004, she was the daughter of Mary Kay Hacker and James Thompson. She was a junior at Patrick Henry High School and was to graduate in 2022.
Delaney was a beautiful girl with an even more beautiful spirit. Her huge heart and loyalty to others was wonderfully balanced with her signature sassy streak . She was a talented ballet dancer and danced at the School of American Ballet in New York City. Delaney was a big lover of children, especially small babies that she could cuddle close to her heart. She was shy as a small child and could often be found in a princess costume. Her big blue eyes and gorgeous smile would become a trademark that followed her into her teen years. Like most 16 year old girls, she loved chatting about boys, being with her friends and wanted to go to school to be an Architect and Interior Designer. Delaney was crazy about the Broadway musical Hamilton and was often heard singing songs from the show and wishing she could have seen it in person. She loved the theater, was a big fan of actress, Kristin Chenoweth and went to see numerous shows on Broadway. She volunteered her time at the Wings of Hope Ranch, helping other children grow in confidence, which allowed her to grow more spiritually ...She has touched people’s lives in so many ways and is loved and adored by those who knew her. We will be forever grateful for our time with her.
Delaney is survived by her mother, Mary Kay Hacker, her father, James Thompson, her beloved siblings, Nicholas Hacker, Maxwell Thompson, and Emily Kathleen (Katie)Thompson, along with her grandparents, Kathleen Hacker (her cherished Gagie) and Archie and Anne Thompson. She is survived further by her uncle, Lawrence Hacker, aunt, Christine Hacker and cousins Fawn DiPalma (Nick DiPalma and children), Wil Murphy, Maya Hacker and Greyson Hacker, aunt Jennifer Hacker and cousin Andrew Hacker, aunt Laurie Friemuth, her cousin and Godfather Douglas Hacker and his wife, and defacto Godmother, Elsie Hacker (who she brought together) and her Fairy Godmother, Amber Reding. She will also be missed by her loving puppies Biscuit, Falkor, and lil’ Biskey.
Delaney was greeted up in heaven by her uncles, David Hacker and Robert Friemuth, both of which left us in 2020.
