Edith Moore Rusher, of Beaverdam, Virginia, passed away July 12, 2001 at the age of 96. She was born in Iron City, Tennessee, the seventh of eight children born to James Wayne Moore, Sr. and Vida Sue Moore. The family moved to Cloverdale, Alabama one year later. At the age of 18 she took a job at the Passport Division of the State Department in Washington, D.C., and worked there until the end of WW II. She met her husband Ambrose O. Rusher, Jr., at First Baptist Church of Washington, D.C., and they were married March 12, 1948. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking and being with family. She was preceded in death by her husband, and her siblings, Clebert Moore, Toy Austin, Newell Moore, Ellis Moore, James Wayne Moore, Jr., Reba Wylie, and Hazel Austin. Surviving are two sons Duane Rusher of West Virginia and David Rusher (Alice) of Virginia, three grandsons, Andrew Rusher (Nelly), Brian Rusher (Marian), and Kevin Rusher of Virginia, and one great-granddaughter, Emma Rusher. A graveside service will be held at 10am on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 15583 Coatesville Rd., Beaverdam, VA 23015.
