Howard "Scooter" Moore Traylor Jr.

Howard Moore Traylor Jr. "Scooter", 72, of Ashland, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 30, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Moore Traylor Sr. and Zelda Margaret Bareford; his wife, Nan Traylor; his longtime companion, Jean Northup; and his sister, Donna Mae Lowry. He was born and raised in Ashland and graduated from Patrick Henry High School. He was a lifelong record-holding drag racer and loved everything that had a motor on it. He was retired from Cliff Weil, Inc. after many years of dedicated service. He loved everyone and never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed. Howard is survived by his beloved dog, Lucy; stepfather, William E. Bareford; sister, Debbie S. Harding; brother, Ronald C. Traylor ("Cuz" or "Stick"); devoted cousins, Ann and Preston Jarrell; niece, Heather Harding (Mike Colpo); nephews, Lewis A. (Trae) Harding III (Brooke) and Tommy Lowry; four great-nieces, a great-nephew and numerous other family and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 5, 2018, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Highway, Ashland, Va. 23005. A Celebration of Life will be held the following day in the chapel at 2 p.m. Interment to follow in Woodland Cemetery, Ashland, Va.
