James Russell (Jamie) Dempsey Jr.

Jamie was born in Richmond, Virginia on December 17, 1987 to Dale and Rusty Dempsey. He was preceded in death by his father, Rusty; his paternal grandparents, Sam and Florence Dempsey; and his maternal grandparents, Earl and Mary Lane; and his beloved pet, Max.

He is survived by his daughter, Ella, and her mother, Kristin; mother, Dale Dempsey; sister, Lisa Watkins-Henley (Jamie); brother, Sam Watkins (Kelly); sister, Melissa Barker (Billy); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as a close friend, Cliff Satterwhite.

Jamie was a plumber by trade and owned a small lawn care business. Jamie was a great athlete in his teens and most recently enjoyed fishing as a hobby. For several years Jamie assisted with Santa Runs in Ashland by dressing up as Santa.

The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2022, at the Reid Chapel, Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Highway, Ashland, where a funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday. Interment in Woodland Cemetery.
