James Frank Whitehead

WHITEHEAD, James F. "Jim," of Mechanicsville, Va., died suddenly Friday, July 3, 2015. Jim was a Mortgage Broker with Dominion Capital Mortgage Company, a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and was a former member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Oceanside, N.Y. A graduate of Wake Forest University, he was a member of the track team, and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Gamma Pi Chapter. Jim also served on the Board of Shalom House and was a member of the Befriender Ministry at Church of the Redeemer. He was a member of the YMCA Indian Guides with his son and an avid runner, fisherman and hiker with the "Boys of Summer" hiking group. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret. He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Elizabeth "Liz"; his son, Daniel; two sisters, Mrs. Doris Evans (John) of Levittown, N.Y. and Nancy Triolo (Leo) of Commack, N.Y.; his brother, Edward Whitehead (Marnie) of Bradenton, Fla.; and his father, James E. Whitehead of Rockville Centre, N.Y.; and many beloved nieces and nephews. His remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, where the family will receive friends Tuesday, July 7, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church, at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 8. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery, Ashland. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations in Jim's name be made to ACES, 507 B Caroline St., Ashland.
