He was the son of the late, Lloyd and Virginia Minor. He was preceded in death by his step daughter, Gail Horrocks (Jimmy) and a niece, Virginia (Ginny) Eib.
John is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary B. Minor; sister, Vicki Fuller; step daughter, Debbie Smith (Garnett); grandchildren, Walter Smith (Lisa), Emion Hearn (Matt), Melissa Burke, Eric Horrocks, and Ryan Horrocks; great grandchildren, Madisyn, Kensley and Berkeley Smith, Byrdie Hearn, and Finley and Pearl Burke; and nephew, Joseph Eib.
John was a glazier, an artist, a fisherman, loved gardening, had a passion for music, listening to his grandsons play and even built over 20 acoustic guitars.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Highway, Ashland, VA 23005. Reception will follow at Mount Olivet Baptist Church.
