Margaret Smith Gentry

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oleathia Bagars and Thomas Hurt Smith Sr.; her sister, Norma Jennings; her brother, Thomas Hurt Smith Jr.; and her nephew, Bruce Smith.

Margaret worked as a packing operator with A.H. Robbins and was a devoted member of Slash Christian Church. She had a deep love for animals and birds, and she cherished spending time with her many friends. Margaret also enjoyed watching her favorite soap operas and going shopping.

She is survived by her nieces, Debora and her husband, Ron Sadler, and Diane and her husband, Nick Geer; and her nephews, Curtis Smith, David Smith, and Timmy Smith and his wife, Christy. She is also remembered fondly by numerous friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to Margaret's visitation at Slash Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 11353 Mt. Hermon Rd, Ashland, VA 23005, on December 2, 2025, from 9:00 am until the time of the Funeral Service at 10:00 AM. A simple gathering will be held in the reception area after the funeral service for fellowship with the family.

The committal service is scheduled at Forest Lawn Cemetery, located at 4000 Pilots Lane, Richmond, VA 23222, at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Slash Christian Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
