Martha L. Dooley, 67, of Mechanicsville, went to be with the Lord on September 29, 2014. Mrs. Dooley was a member at First Baptist Church in Ashland. She was a long time employee of Miler + Rhodes Department Store where she worked as an accountant. In later years she worked as a certified pharmacy technician. Mrs. Dooley loved crafting: she enjoyed her mission work at First Baptist with the knitting group knitting prayer shaws and hats. She also enjoyed the missions of the Sudan mission group. She is survived by her husband, Hiram Dooley; sister, Betty Rusk (Dale); half-sister, Jennifer Thompson (Patrick); step-sister, Patricia Williams (Dickie) as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home- Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Highway, Ashland, VA 23005. A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 800 Thompson Street, Ashland, VA 23005. Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Richmond, VA.
