

Maureen Stokes Wright, aged 77, passed away on December 29, 2024, in Richmond, VA. Born on August 8, 1947, in Brooklyn, NY, Maureen dedicated over four decades to the nursing profession, significantly impacting lives at Johnston Willis Hospital and the VA Endoscopy Group.
Maureen was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, cherished for her nurturing care and warmth. She graduated from Johnston Willis Nursing School and was a longtime member of St. Ann's Catholic Church. Beyond her professional achievements, Maureen was thrilled to cheer on her grandchildren's sporting activities and enjoyed water aerobics and knitting.
Maureen is survived by her former husband, Harold Wright, Jr. and their children; Lisa Rager and Sean Wright; son-in-law, Michael Rager; daughter-in-law, Erin Wright; grandchildren, Cayla, Gavin, and Evelyn Wright; sister, Debbie Clarke; and brother-in-law, Lewis Clarke and their children Nick Clarke and Kirsten Slagle. Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mary Stokes.
A memorial service will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Ashland, VA, on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 11 am. Her service will be live streamed courtesy of St. Ann's. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Virginia Nurses Association in her memory. Maureen's legacy of care and compassion will be dearly remembered by all who knew her.
