Nancy Jordan Berriman

Nancy J Berriman, 88, died October 15 at Morningside in the West End, Richmond, Virginia after a brief illness. Nancy lived near Valley Forge, PA for over 50 years, before moving to Richmond in 2017. Nancy Jordan Berriman was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, on September 12, 1931, the daughter of Frank C. Jordan and Mary R. Seigh. Nancy was predeceased by her parents, her beloved siblings, Frank J. and Terri Jordan, and her former husband, W. Thomas Berriman. Mrs. Berriman attended the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1953, with degrees in Sociology and Psychology. After raising her family, Nancy returned to Penn, first in Admissions, and later served in the University’s Financial Aid Office, rising to become Assistant Director for Undergraduate Financial Aid. She retired in 2002, after 25 years of dedicated service. She was a life-long patron of the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Metropolitan Opera, a voracious reader, and an avid world traveler, visiting Africa, Europe, the Holy Lands, East Asia, and even Antarctica. Survivors include her four children, Sally Berriman (Stephen Brown)of Denver, CO, Ann Berriman, of Doylestown, PA, Susan Berriman Bova (Jim), of Ashland, VA, and Tom Berriman (Tracy), of Potomac, MD. Grandma Jody/Aunt Nancy also leaves behind her grandchildren, David, Katherine, Elizabeth, Alex, Will, and Julia, her great-grandson, Jacob, as well as her loving nephews, nieces and their families. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Ashland, Virginia on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in honor of Nancy be made to St Ann’s Church or to the charity of the donor’s choosing.
