He was the son of Toney Edgar Adkins and Cora Elizabeth (Buckland) Adkins, brother to Violet Marie Adkins, Ruby Adkins, Mildred Adkins, Artin Adkins, and Orvil Adkins.
He was the father of Ronald Gene Adkins and Carolyn Joyce (Adkins) Dennis and three step children, Michael, Herbie, and Wayne.
Gene was an Army soldier, skilled welder, and loved fishing, hunting and camping. Gene was married to the love of his life Ellen Jeanette Adkins for over 40 years. Gene’s wife Ellen and son Ronnie, spent the last few days of his life by his side. Gene went to heaven on 4/26/2022 peacefully at the Veterans hospital in Richmond Virginia. Gene left many grandchildren and many great grandchildren to carry on his legacy.
Gene will be cremated and his ashes will be laid to rest at 1:00pm on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at The VA Amelia Cemetery, 10300 Pridesville Rd., Amelia, VA 23002 after a brief ceremony.
